Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Railway Minister Sheikh Rasheed, have both tested positive for the coronavirus. The ex Prime Minister and PTI minister are currently quarantined in their houses. On Sunday, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Sharjeel Memon also tested positive for the contagion. Memon is currently under self-isolation as well.
Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has filed a bail petition in the Islamabad High Court. He is currently in NAB custody in the LNG contract case. He has asked the court to grant him bail till a verdict is announced in the case. The former premier applied for bail on the orders of Nawaz Sharif, the PML-N founder and three-time former prime minister.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Thursday in a mega corruption case pertaining to the award of liquefied natural gas (LNG) import contracts. An accountability court in Islamabad has granted 13-day physical remand of the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) leader. Abbasi will be presented before the court on August 1.
