Prime Minister to offer PSM to China

Prime Minister Imran Khan has decided to offer handing over Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) to China through government to government deal during his upcoming vist to Beijing on October 07, 2019.  He decided to discuss five major issues including offering PSM, finalising deal on modernisation of railway Mainline (ML-1), financing of Bunji hydropower project, agriculture and social sectors-related projects in and outside the ambit of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). 

Corrupt Communist party official could be the new richest man in China

Recovery of thousands of gold bars and bricks from the residence of senior Communist Party official could make him the richest man in China. With gold worth up to £520m, Zhang Qi would have been richer than Jack Ma, the wealthiest man in China worth $37 billion. China’s anti-corruption watchdog also discovered 268 billion yuan (£30 billion) in suspected bribes from Zhang Qi’s account.

China shows serious concern about India’s move in Kashmir

China has shown serious concern and taken strict stance on the Kashmir issue, saying it opposes India’s decision to revoke Kashmir’s special status. “India’s action is unacceptable and would not have any legal effect,” Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said in a statement. China urged India to strictly abide by agreements reached by both countries in order to avoid any boundary issues.

China to help FBR reduce misdeclarations at ports

Pakistan and China have decided to enter into an agreement to control misdeclaration at the country’s ports, as the menace has been causing massive revenue and foreign investment loss. In order to control corruption within the customs department and reduce misdeclaration, the two countries will automate the port data and declaration system. Currently, 62% of declared goods at port showed discrepancies.

US, Russia, China appreciate Pakistan’s role in ending Afghan war

A joint statement issued in Washington has revealed that United States, China and Russia have warmly welcomed Pakistan to a four-party consultation process aiming to bring peace to the war-torn region of Afghanistan after 18 years. The statement recognises Pakistan’s role in Afghan peace process and justifies Islamabad’s view that any development in Afghanistan also impacts Pakistan.

Prisoners in China being killed for forced organ harvesting

An independent tribunal investigating “forced organ harvesting” from Chinese prisoners, including Falun Gong practitioners and Uighur Muslims, concluded that despite Chinese government’s claim in 2014 that organ harvesting from executed prisoners will cease, seemingly large numbers of transplants are still taking place. Tribunal also falsified China’s claims that it follows World Health Organization’s guiding principles on human organ transplant.

Alibaba looking for second listing in Hong Kong

Bloomberg news have reported that US -listed, Chinese e-commerce leader, Alibaba Group is exploring a potential second listing in Hong Kong, as early as the second half of 2019, that could raise $20 billion as Beijing seeks to encourage its tech titans to list closer to home. This listing is intended to help Alibaba “diversify funding channels and boost liquidity.”
