These 8 Pakistani beauty creams have cancer-causing chemicals

Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) has found excessive mercury and hydroquinone, cancer causing chemicals in 8 Pakistani beauty creams. BSTI had collected a total of 13 fairness creams imported from Pakistan to assess their composition at its laboratory. According to BSTI standards, skincare products are allowed to have 1 ppm mercury and 5 ppm hydroquinone.

IT companies are moving out of Sindh due to high tax rates

Information technology (IT) companies are shifting from Sindh to other provinces owing to high tax rates in the province. This was revealed by the Federal Secretary for the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui while he was  briefing the Senate Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunication. 

Apple supplier’s revenue hammered by coronavirus fallout

Manufacturing partner of Apple, Foxconn reported its biggest monthly drop in revenue in about seven years  as the coronavirus outbreak continued to play havoc with its business. The Taiwanese company, which assembles Apple’s (AAPL.O) iPhones, saw revenue sink 18.1% in February compared with a year earlier – the biggest monthly fall since March 2013 and the third straight month of decline. It warned the coronavirus epidemic would hit its bottom line in the first quarter.

India to stop Pakistan’s river water from this year: Report

A recent foreign media report has revealed that the Modi-led government of India is planning to stop Pakistan’s share of river water from flowing into Pakistan by the end of this year. Indian authorities are working on a plan to stop 2 TMC of water from the Ujh River, a branch of Ravi, flowing through the Kathua district of Indian Occupied Kashmir.

Pakistan Railways announces 25% reduction in train fares

Pakistan Railways has decided to reduce train fares by 25% of 21 express trains from March 9th till May 8th. However, only passengers intending to travel in AC business or AC standard class can avail this facility, and that too if they book tickets in advance. In a press conference, Minister for Railways, Sheikh Rasheed, said that the PTI government is dedicated to transforming the Pakistan Railways. 

Chinese man jailed for 6 years for ATM skimming in Karachi

A sessions court in Karachi has sentenced a Chinese citizen after he pled guilty to data theft and ATM skimming. Leo Lin, the accused, will have to serve 6 years and 3 months of jail time and pay a fine worth Rs. 1 million to the government.The Federal Investigation Agency had arrested Lin and indicted him for stealing private information of citizens by using skimming devices at different ATMs throughout Karachi.

Alibaba’s AI can diagnose coronavirus within seconds

Alibaba, China’s Amazon, Microsoft, gaming developer, and healthcare network, all in one just came up with an AI system for diagnosing the COVID-19 (coronavirus). The AI system developed can review 300 chest CT scans in less than 20 seconds to determine if the patient is infected or not. Currently, at least 100 healthcare facilities in China are implementing the AI solution for Coronavirus screening.

Darren Sammy wants to pay taxes in Pakistan

Peshawar Zalmi skipper Darren Sammy has offered to pay taxes in Pakistan as he is going to be awarded honourary citizenship on March 23. Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan said Sammy would be exempted from paying taxes as he met the Zalmi player at the PM House. PM Khan also lauded Sammy and Peshawar Zalmi’s role for reviving international cricket in Pakistan and congratulated him on becoming a citizen during the meeting.
