WHO says coronavirus transmission from asymptomatic patients rare

The World Health Organization (WHO) has said that asymptomatic patients is of coronavirus rarely transmit the disease. During a press briefing, head of WHO’s emerging diseases and zoonosis unit, Dr. Maria Van Kerkhove, said spread from asymptomatic and presymptomatic people does occur, but recommended focusing on tracing and isolating symptomatic people to better attack the outbreak.

Actor Vasay Chaudhry tests COVID-19 positive, Rubina Ashraf critical due to virus

Actor and writer Vasay Chaudhary has tested positive for novel coronavirus. Vasay, who is asymptomatic, made the announcement on Instagram and told his fans to pray for his speedy recovery. Meanwhile, Veteran TV actor Rubina Ashraf who tested positive for the virus last week is in critical condition. The 60-year-old was initially isolated but has now been admitted to a private hospital. 

New Zealand clears and releases country’s final COVID-19 patient

Health authorities in New Zealand have said the country has released its final COVID-19 patient from isolation on Monday. The country manage to beat the virus with a strict seven week lock down and stringent travel restrictions. There have been no new infections for 17 days and, until Monday, just one active case for more than a week.

Pakistan’s heartthrob Fawad Khan is among ‘100 Most Handsome Faces’ of 2020, TC Candler, an independent critics list recently revealed. Khan was a part of the list in 2017 and 2018 as well. In 2015, the musician-turned actor was chosen as one of the Top Ten Sexiest Asian Men. The list includes the likes of Keanu Reeves, Jason Momoa, Sidharth Malhotra, and Zayn Malik to name a few. 

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Sheikh Rasheed test positive for COVID-19

Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Railway Minister Sheikh Rasheed, have both tested positive for the coronavirus. The ex Prime Minister and PTI minister are currently quarantined in their houses. On Sunday, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Sharjeel Memon also tested positive for the contagion. Memon is currently under self-isolation as well.

Coronavirus created in a Lab, claims Norwegian scientist in a new study

Norwegian scientist Birger Sørensen has claimed the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 is not natural in origin. The study from Sørensen and British professor Angus Dalgleish show that the coronavirus’s spike protein contains sequences that appear to be artificially inserted. They also highlight the lack of mutation since its discovery, which suggests it was already fully adapted to humans.

Ertugrul inspiration in Pakistan: statue of warrior appears in Lahore

The community members of an area in Lahore have paid tribute to the warrior hero of Turkish television series, Dirilis: Ertugrul , by erecting a statue of Ertugrul in their neighbourhood. The warrior in the statue in the Maraghzar Housing Scheme situated along the Multan Road is seen carrying a sword and riding a horse.

Queen of England recognizes Rizq’s relief efforts for COVID-19 in Pakistan

Rizq, a social enterprise revolutionizing the use of surplus food to end food poverty in Pakistan, has been congratulated by The Queen of England, on receiving the “Commonwealth Points of Light Award”. Rizq was awarded for their relief efforts during the current COVID-19 crisis in Pakistan. Rizq mobilised an army of 3,000 volunteers across 23 cities, distributing over 2.2 million meals to the most vulnerable.

Facebook page by the name “Corona recovered warriors”, is providing hope to many critical patients by connecting them with recovered patients for plasma donation. The founder of the page, Zoraiz Riaz, a graduate of Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), has used the social media platform to help users find relevant medicines, injections and guidelines by authorized doctors.

According to sources, doctors have recommended Nawaz take an hour-long walk every day. Last week a photo of the PML-N leader enjoying tea with family members outside his son’s office near Hyde Park had gone viral.
