Maryam Nawaz arrested in Chaudhry Sugar Mills Case: NAB

PML-N vice president and daughter of ousted premier Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, has been arrested by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). The anti-graft body has also arrested Yousaf Abbas Sharif, a nephew of Nawaz, in same case. The move comes following Maryam and Yousaf’s reported refusal to appear before NAB in Chaudhary Sugar Mills and assets beyond means case today at 3pm.

Maryam and 3000 PMLN workers booked for Faisalabad rally

More than 3,000 activists and leaders of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) have been booked in different police stations in Faisalabad. Charges of delivering speeches against the government, staging rallies without seeking permission, using loudspeaker and hurling threats of disrupting peace on Sunday night have been noted. Police said the accused had created problems by blocking various roads.

‘Calibri’ plea against Maryam Nawaz dismissed

The accountability court, presided by Judge Muhammad Bashir has declared plea ‘Calibre’ against Maryam Nawaz inadmissible for hearing. The plea by the anti-graft watchdog (NAB) seeked action against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz for allegedly submitting a bogus trust deed in the Avenfield case. The NAB had also requested a trial against Maryam for fraudulent documents. 

Maryam Nawaz calls for protest rallies over the country

The vice president of Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N), Maryam Nawaz Sharif, in a Tweet has asked people to come out for protest rallies over the country, demanding to free former prime minister Nawaz Sharif. Maryam also added in her Tweet that people should come out to fight for their right as their mandate has been stolen.

IHC directs Law Ministry to remove Judge Arshad Malik

The Islamabad High Court decided to remove accountability judge Arshad Malik from his post following a controversy revolving around the ‘leaked’ video tape of the judicial officer. The IHC judge directed the registrar office to write a letter to the law ministry regarding relieving judge Malik of his post and repatriating him to the parent department, the LHC.
