FO rejects news of secret Wuhan lab conducting operations in Pakistan

Ministry of Foreign Affairs rejected an Australian news outlet’s report alleging that a Wuhan lab has been conducting alleged covert operations in Pakistan as “politically motivated and fake”. The Klaxon report, quoting unnamed “intelligence experts”, claims China’s Wuhan Institute of Virology has “set up operations in Pakistan as part of a broader offensive against India and Western rivals”.

Wuhan, China lifts coronavirus lockdown

Wuhan, China lifted months long coronavirus lockdown in the city on Wednesday. Thousands of people crowded airports and subway stations in the city. The government had lifted the travel ban from the city after 76 days. Buses and cars were also on roads out of the city, after barricades on its outskirts were dismantled. 

Govt says its decision to not evacuate Pakistani nationals from China ‘not final’

Four Pakistani students in China tested positive for the coronavirus, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Dr Zafar Mirza revealed on Wednesday. On Prime Minister Imran Khan’s behalf, Mirza assured the children’s families of the government’s support. He said that they will take on the responsibility of these children and all Pakistanis in China.

Large number of Pakistani students stranded in Wuhan seeks government’s help

At least 500 Pakistani students are reportedly stuck in the coronavirus-hit Chinese city of Wuhan. In a recorded video, the students have requested the  government to rescue them just like embassies of other countries are helping their citizens. “If even one of us gets affected, the others will be in danger,” said Hafsah Tayab, one of the students stuck in Wuhan.
