IT Ministry to launch “Baytee” mobile app for women

The federal government has taken another big step towards empowering Pakistani women with the launch of the “Baytee” program. A mobile application will serve as a centralized information hub regarding important services for women according to senior officials of Ministry of Information Technology. The application will provide news about laws and regulations regarding women rights, help them find nearby jobs, scholarships, nearby health services and information about police stations and hostels. 

Saudi Arabia allows women to serve in armed forces

Saudi Arabia has now announced that it will allow women in the kingdom to serve in the armed forces as it embarks on a broad programme of economic and social reforms. The move is latest in a series of measures aimed at increasing rights of women in the kingdom, allowing women to serve as private first class, corporal or sergeant.

Meet Pakistan Army’s third female major general

Major General Nigar Johar Khan, hailing from a Pashtun family, in 2017 became the third woman in Pakistan’s history to hold rank of a major general in Pakistan Army. Apart from being a two-star general in Pakistan Army’s Medical Corps, Nigar is also a sharp shooter. She takes inspiration from her father, who had also served Pakistan Army.
