IHC bans physical punishment against children under 12

Islamabad High Court (IHC) bans physical punishment against children under 12. As Article 89 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) does not categorize the use of corporal punishment against children under 12 as an offense, Chief Justice IHC  has suspended it till further notice. Chief Justice gave the ruling while hearing a petition lodged by singer and human rights activist Shahzad Roy.

Awan served another contempt notice after IHC accepts unconditional apology

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) accepted apology of Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, special assistant to prime minister on information and broadcasting, for scandalising judiciary and issued her a fresh contempt of court notice for making a statement regarding a pending criminal proceeding. Awan assured the court that she would be extremely careful in future and placed herself at mercy of the court.
