The Foreign Office called upon the international community to take urgent cognisance of the aggravating Islamophobia in India and said it was the second time in the last three months that a senior BJP leader made disrespectful comments against the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

Pakistan has urged the UN General Assembly not to be silent on the offensive remarks made by BJP officials in India last week. Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari warned that silence on such issues could be mistaken for complicity. hutto-Zardari called UN General Assembly President Abdulla Shahid on Friday and apprised him of the derogatory remarks made by two senior officials of BJP. 

After social media uproar, Twitter deletes BJP’s cartoon of Muslims hung by noose

A social media post by Gujarat unit of the BJP that depicted Muslims hanging by a noose was made unavailable on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, a day after it sparked massive outrage. The post by BJP Gujarat read, “Satyamev Jayate. No pardon to the terror spreader”. Twitter confirmed it had proactively taken action against the post.

Indian police detained more than 100 protesters in key Indian cities for defying ban on protests that authorities hope to stop widespread demonstrations against a new citizenship law. Internet service was blocked in some parts of New Delhi, a tactic Indian authorities are known to use in other parts of the country, such as occupied Kashmir, to try to stop protests from being organised.

Hundreds have come out to protest in India as Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government offered a controversial bill in parliament that would give citizenship to non-Muslim minorities from three neighbouring countries. Opposition parties stood against the proposed law that would, for the first time, create a legal pathway to grant Indian nationality on the basis of religion.

Pollution in India due to Pakistan and China: BJP leader

A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader has blamed Pakistan and China for the high levels of pollution in India. The Indian lawmaker alleged that one of the two neighbouring countries are responsible for releasing poisonous gas in New Delhi. The leader claimed that Pakistan was ‘frustrated’ because “it could not register a single victory in any battle”.

BJP’s senior leader Sushma Swaraj passes away due to cardiac arrest

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) senior leader Sushma Swaraj passed away on Tuesday at the age of 67. The Former Indian external affairs minister passed away “after suffering a heart attack in the evening”. Swaraj, who had suffered from chronic diabetes, had also been admitted to hospital in 2016 when she suffered kidney failure. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi termed her demise “a personal loss”.

Hackers replace “BJP” with “Beef” on the party’s official website

Indian PM Narendra Modi led Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) web portal of Delhi wing has been hacked. The hackers replaced several pages of the website with recipes of Beef dishes, accompanied with the message: Hacked by ‘Shadow_V1P3R’. The navigation bar has been edited to replace word BJP with the word BEEF. “About BJP” is now “About Beef” on the website.
