Bangladesh to arrive on Wednesday for first test in Rawalpindi

The Bangladesh cricket team will arrive on Wednesday for the first Test against Pakistan at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The two sides will then practice at the ground over  the next two days before the game starts on February 7 .On Friday, the first session will be from 10am to 12:30pm with an extended lunch break from 12:30pm to 1:30pm. Pakistan team will be lead by Azhar Ali while Mominul Haque will lead the Bangladesh team. 

Bangladesh shuts mobile network along India border

Bangladesh has cut services to millions of mobile phones along its border with India for “security” reasons amid fears a new citizenship law passed by its giant neighbour could prompt an influx of migrants. Bangladesh shares a 4,000-kilometre border with India and the shutdown would affect some 10 million mobile phone users. The decision was taken keeping in mind India’s current situation which may prompt many people to enter Bangladesh. 

Swvl to Expand to Bangladesh & the Philippines

Swvl, a mobile application that lets users reserve bus tickets online, aims to start operation in the Philippines, Indonesia and Bangladesh by late next year. The company runs buses along fixed routes and allows users to book seats and pay for them through its app. It competes with current ride hailing companies as it is 30 to 40 percent less expensive than using a car. 

Bangladesh to import onions from Pakistan after 15 years

Pakistan has received first onion export order of more than 300 tons from Bangladesh after nearly 15 years. This is after an Indian ban on Bangladesh to avert price hike in domestic markets. At least 12 containers of onions are being exported to Bangladesh and more will follow. The onion trade was also agreed on in government-to-government talks. The shipment value from Pakistan will be around $600/ton.
