Chairman Senate survives no-confidence by Opposition

The opposition remains shocked as its no-confidence resolution to de-seat incumbent Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani failed. Out of the 100 senators who cast their vote, 50 were cast in favour of the de-seating resolution, 5 votes were rejected while 45 votes were cast in Sanjrani’s favour. The ruling party and its allies have 36 senators, meaning that 9 opposition senators voted for Sanjrani. There were also 3 abstentions.
