Russian forum sells network access to Pakistan’s top federal agency FBR

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) of Pakistan has been the victim of a large-scale cyber attack. It was discovered that of more than 1500 computer systems, a group of unknown hackers was selling network access to the agency on a Russian cybercrime forum. Hackread.com was informed that hackers breached Microsoft Hyper-V software. They took down both the official website and every subdomain of the agency.

PTA authorizes Lucky motors to manufacture Samsung mobile devices in Pakistan

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has authorized Lucky Motor Corporation Limited (LMCL) to manufacture Samsung phones in Pakistan. The Mobile Device Manufacturing (MDM) Regulations 2021 have been granted to Lucky Motor Corporation Limited. Moreover, approval was given following the LMCL’s request to set up a mobile device manufacturing plant in Karachi.

Japan shatters record for fastest internet speed at 319 Terabits per second

The internet speed record has been tainted by Japanese engineers after they demonstrated 319 Terabits per second through optical fibers. The fiber was used for approximately 3,000 km (1,864 miles), with the system apparently compatible with existing cable infrastructure. The firm also alleges that the cyber attack was coordinated by a Pakistan-based advanced persistent threat (APT) group. The group is so advanced that it can gather any type of sensitive data from any affected system, including keystrokes, files, and screenshots.

Xiaomi to open local assembly unit in Pakistan in near future

Xiaomi has announced that it plans to set up a local assembly plant in the country within three to four months. In addition to generating employment opportunities for locals, this latest development will also boost smartphone manufacturing in the country. Chinese phone manufacturer Realme sets up assembly plant in Lahore

China’s Realme, a leading global brand of smartphones, recently opened a local assembly plant in Lahore. Realme’s Director of Marketing, Sherry Dong, explained that the decision was made based on the increasing demand for Realme phones in Pakistan. Consequently, Realme phones and products would be more affordable for Pakistani consumers. The project is expected to create jobs and have a significant socioeconomic impact.

Punjab to build auto parts technology park in Sheikhupura

The provincial minister for industry and commerce, Mian Aslam Iqbal, announced the opening of the Auto Parts Technology Park in Quaid-e-Azam Business Park in Sheikhupura. The announcement was made during a meeting during which the performance of the PIEDMC was discussed. This technology park will include a design center, a training center, as well as a manufacturing and testing facility.

‘Team NUST Airworks’ wins the Runner Up Award at U.K’s IMechE UAS Challenge 2021

Undergraduate student team, Team NUST Airworks, was honored to win both the Runner Up Award and the Safety Award at the U.K.’s IMechE UAS Challenge 2021. The team comprises twenty-five electrical and mechanical engineering undergraduates from 1st to 4th year. The competition attracted over 30 teams from Bangladesh, Denmark, Greece, India, Pakistan, the Netherlands, Russia, Sri Lanka, and the UK.
