Istanbul Airport has won the first-ever “Readers Choice: Airport of the Year” award by International Airport Review (IAR).The International Airport Review awards focus to acknowledge excellence within the aviation industry. The readers were given an opportunity to vote for the best airport from a list of 10 airports considering delays, connectivity, cleanliness, staff behaviour etc. for the first time ever

A 32-year old Indian man pretended to be 81 to fly to the US on a fake passport

According to the Indian police. A 32-year-old Indian man disguised himself as an 81-year-old in a wheelchair in a brazen attempt to fly to the US for a job with a fake passport. The man, identified as Jayesh Patel, was arrested at New Delhi airport trying to use a passport said that he was Amrik Singh, born in February 1938. He managed to get a US visa using the fake passport.

Government to launch its own messaging app soon

In the wake of escalating data leaks around the world, the government of Pakistan has made a decision to launch a dedicated messaging app for all official communication. The application will be named as the “Govt App” and the government will stop using other messaging applications like WhatsApp, according to Prime Minister Imran Khan

Teenage game addict dies after playing all night

In a tragic incident in Thailand, a 17-year-old boy Piyawat Harikun died after playing an online game all night. He suffered a stroke which proved fatal, according to the reports.The boy used to stay up all night and day while playing video games. He spent his entire school holidays in October playing multiplayer battle games. According to Piyawat’s father his death is an example for other parents as they should keep track of their children’s playing hours. 

Punjab govt bans use of mobile phones in educational institutions

The Punjab government has imposed a ban on the use of mobile phones on the premises of public and private educational institutions in the province. The notification issued directed the relevant authorities to enforce the ban to protect the youngsters from drugs. Also in order to prevent the students from using social media inside the premises of educational institutions for kids aged under 16 the competent authority has decided to ban the use of mobile phones.

Khawateen Rozgar Services – A hope for women with ambitions

Khawateen Rozgar Services (KRS) was formed in November 2018 in the city of Peshawar with the purpose of empowering women in Pakistan. It provides job opportunities to women with ambitions, facing trouble to find a job and bearing issues like harassment  at workplace. KRS aim is to connect women with the organisations having a safe environment and has created a database of 9,000 women seeking job with 379 employed. 

8-year-old becomes the youngest to win big at Martial Arts Championship

Muhammad Abubakr Farooq, hailing from Chakwal, Pakistan has recently created history at the Martial Arts Championship by becoming the youngest British-Pakistani to bag three medals.. The 8 year old won medals in different categories, bronze in self defence, silver in fighting and gold in weapons. He believes this would not have been possible for him without his parents and trainer’s support. According to his father, Abubakr is a inspiration for all the kids. 

Vaping devices may damage the heart, study says

Vaping devices and the chemicals they deliver — increasingly popular among teens — may damage the cardiovascular system, a study said on Thursday, adding to a growing chorus of concern over injury and deaths related to e-cigarettes. E-cigarettes also contain nicotine that is also found in tobacco, is known to increase blood pressure and the heart rate.  

SECP’s startup portal encourages technology innovation in Pakistan

Security Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has launched a new startup portal to encourage technology innovation in the country. The startup was inaugurated by SECP Information System and Technology Commissioner Shauzeb Ali at  ‘Startup Grind Pakistan’ conference in Islamabad and includes features like startups, access to mentors and incubation centres, simplified user experience for registration for startup companies and guides with video tutorials for starters.

Emirates announces massive discounts in air travel fares from Pakistan

Emirates has announced special fares across its global route network to inspire and encourage Pakistani travellers to explore new destinations and revisit their favourite cities. The special fares are available for booking till 18 November 2019, for travel between 12 November 2019 and 30 September 2020.  According to Mohammad Sarhan, Emirates’ Vice President Pakistan, special fares represent savings of 15 percent for First Class, and 10 percent on Business and Economy Class fares across 150 countries including Dubai.
