Xiaomi patents under-display front dual cameras

Xiaomi, via twitter, announced in June that the company has found a solution to make the front cameras disappear to finally get rid of notches. Similarly on the same day Oppo also announced the same technology on twitter. Xiaomi’s recent patent regarding the new technology was filed and granted by the CNIPA (China National Intellectual Property Administration) which also surfaced the internet. 

Suicide live streamed on Facebook

A depressed man, Munir Kalwar from Ghotki, Sindh committed suicide while live streaming it on Facebook on Monday. He shared that failed relationship was the reason behind this act and asked for forgiveness from his family and friends. Munir streamed for 6 minutes during which he shot himself in the head. Following the incident, Police took the body to Mirpur Mathelo District Headquarters Hospital.

TikTok’s owner had $7 billion in revenue for the first half of the year

China’s ByteDance, owner of video-sharing app TikTok, booked revenue of $7 billion to $8.4 billion in a better than expected result for the first half of the year. The owner  also posted a profit in June and was confident of making a similar or better profit in the second half of the year. Tiktok’s robust  growth has led to revise its revenue target for 2019 from 100 billion yuan to 120 billion yuan.

World’s biggest face recognition system to be built in India

India is building the world’s biggest face recognition system, according to an official announcement made to the international media. The automate facial recognition aims to identify suspects immediately across the country. The system would work by matching images from the CCTV network across the country against the database maintained of mug-shots of criminals, passport photos and images collected by various government agencies. 

Longest continuous flight record set by Qantas Airways

Australian airline, Qantas Airways set a record of longest non stop flight i.e. 19 hours and 16 minutes from New York City to Sydney under a project. During the research, pilots’ brain waves, alertness and efficiency were monitored. For further research, two additional flights will be carried out as part of the airline’s effort while carrying out long flights, as the final decision is expected at the end of this year.

Plastic eggs being sold in Karachi; sellers arrested

Sindh Food Authority (SFA) conducted a raid on a retailer shop located in Clifton, Karachi and recovered at least three crates of plastic eggs and arrested four people including the shop owner for selling fake eggs for consumption. Over 100 creates of fake eggs in a supply van were also confiscated and sent to laboratory for further testing. SFA along with Sindh police also raided the shops in the area for further inspection. 

Pakistan among 20 countries to dominate global growth in 2024

Pakistan along with Turkey, Mexico and Saudia Arabia is likely to be among the top 20 drivers of growth in 2024, according to a Bloomberg report. International Monetary Fund projections, adjusted for purchasing power parity was used by Bloomberg in order to identify these growing countries. The report stated that the global economy alarmed by tensions that obstructed the international trade, is expected to see slower growth in the next half-decade across economies.

Urdu website launched by FBR

Urdu website is launched to facilitate the taxpayers by Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Syed Muhammad Shabbar Zaidi. The Urdu website offers online facilitation and services to the taxpayers about Income Tax, Sales Tax, Custom etc. and also information related to it.  The website allows the users to file a complaint as well as seek response to their queries in the national language. 

Student arrested for cheating via surgically implanted earpiece

An intermediate student from Pakpatan has been caught using a surgically implanted earpiece in his ear to cheat in the examinations. He was caught by the chairman of the Sahiwal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (SBISE), Hafiz Shafiq, who was on inspection duty.During the interrogation, Farooq revealed that a local dispenser had implanted the device with the help of a few cuts around his ear and neck.

Pakistan to export gemstones and jewellery to China

After a meeting held of the Pakistan-China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI) in Lahore, Pakistan decided to export gemstones and jewellery to China as opportunities for improving bilateral trade were explored during the meeting. Pakistan possesses large untapped reserves of precious gemstones which can be exported to China as China is the biggest buyer of jewellery and gemstones.
