Loss making Pakistan railways to send 93 staff members to China with $100 daily allowance

Pakistan Railways (PR), which is currently making losses worth billions of rupees, is going to send 93 of its officers and staff to China on a 22-day tour. The PR officials are going to inspect 230 passenger coaches that Pakistan is importing from China for an amount of $149 million. Meanwhile, they will receive $100 per day as traveling allowance and dearness allowance (TA/DA).

Pakistan inflation peaks to 14-year high amid currency depreciation, rising commodity prices

Pakistan’s inflation rose to a 14-year high of 24.93 percent on a year-on-year basis in July, the country’s statistics bureau said on Monday, with experts attributing it to falling currency and rising commodity prices. In July, food prices increased by 10.28 percent, energy and housing by 4.98 percent and transport by 3.88 percent, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). 

ISPR confirms martyrdom of all aboard missing army helicopter

The wreckage of the ill-fated Army Aviation helicopter, which went missing a day earlier, has been found. ISPR has confirmed that all six passengers onboard have embraced martyrdom in the crash. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the wreckage was found in the Musa Goth area of Windar in Lasbela district. The unfortunate accident occurred due to bad weather as per initial investigations.

England to tour Pakistan after 17 years for T20 series

England will play seven T20Is from 20 September to 2 October in Karachi and Lahore in what will be their first visit of the country in 17 years. The National Stadium will host the matches on 20, 22, 23 and 25 September, before the action will shift to the cricket headquarters at the Gaddafi Stadium where the remaining three matches will be played. 

IMF confirms Pakistan has met all preconditions for resumption of loan program

The top International Monetary Fund (IMF) official in Islamabad has confirmed Pakistan had met the final precondition for the seventh and eighth review under a $6 billion loan program. Pakistan met the last condition by increasing the petroleum development levy (PDL) on July 31. The PDL was raised by Rs10 on petrol and by Rs5 each on HSD, kerosene and light diesel oil (LDO).
