PTI’s Azam Swati arrested by FIA for ‘controversial’ tweet against COAS

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senator Azam Swati was taken into custody early Thursday morning by the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) cybercrime unit for allegedly making ‘controversial tweets’ against state institutions, including army chief. The FIA arrested Swati for “using false information” through his official Twitter handle, “which is likely to incite any Officer, Soldier, Sailor, or Airman in the Army, Navy or Air Force to mutiny”.

Centaurus Mall fire brought under control by timely efforts

The fire which erupted at Centaurus Mall in Islamabad was brought under control by the timely efforts of the rescue teams. The Islamabad High Court on Thursday set aside the conviction of PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz and her spouse Capt (retd) Mohammad Safdar handed down by an accountability court in the Avenfield reference four years ago and acquitted the couple. HBL dismisses allegations in Bloomberg report as ‘meritless’
